The National Council on the Aging (NCOA) can help us all grow old gracefully. The nonprofit is an advocate for the elderly. Its members include adult day service centers, employment services, senior housing facilities, and faith-based organizations. NCOA monitors public policies, business practices, and attitudes concerning older Americans. The group operates a Web site called BenefitsCheckUp, which allows users to search federal, state, and private benefit and prescription savings programs for which they might be eligible. Other programs include matching volunteers with at-risk children and families as well as providing training and employment opportunities to those older than 55. NCOA was formed in 1950.
