United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) fights the good fight. The not-for-profit organization and its affiliates (about 100 chapter throughout North America, Australia, and Scotland) serve more than 176,000 children and adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. Cerebral palsy is a group of conditions marked by an inability to fully control muscle movement and coordination caused by poor development or damage to the brain during fetal development, birth, or infancy. UCP works for the inclusion of the disabled into all facets of life by lobbying Congress, providing information, and funding research. Direct services include therapy, individual and family support, employment assistance, and technology training.
