Education

He graduated from Paramus High School in Paramus, NJ in 1980 and has been climbing in his medical career ever since. After graduation from high school, he enrolled at Rutgers University’s Cook College Campus in New Brunswick, NJ.

For four years, he studied at Rutgers, graduating in 1984. This earned him his Bachelor of Science degree in biology, the first step on the road to becoming a medical practitioner.

After his Rutgers graduation, Ramon Rego, M.D. moved to Guadalajara, the capital city of Jalisco, Mexico, in order to attend medical school at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara. He studied here from August of 1994 to May of 1998 before graduating with his medical degree, finally becoming a medical doctor.

With degree in hand, Dr. Rego nonetheless decided to expand his education further yet. He moved to Staten Island, NY, and enrolled in the Fifth Pathway Program at the Medical Center of the New York Medical College of Saint Vincent. He studied here for the year between July of 1988 and June of 1989, and then graduated from the program with his Fifth Pathway Certificate.

Work Experience

After completing his studies, Ramon Rego still had his medical residency training to tackle. He began his first integrated residency in internal medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry’s Newark Campus in New Jersey in July of 1990. After a year here, he gained the position of chief resident of internal medicine and held it until his residency ended in June of 1992.

After his residency, he became an Associate Attending Physician with the Department Of Medicine at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. His duties here included clinically supervising interns, residents, and medical students in both outpatient and inpatient settings. He also attended outpatients at the Hillside Center for Primary Care and Doctors on Duty and worked in the Newark Beth Israel Heart Transplant Clinic.

Ramon Rego, M.D. stayed on with Newark Beth Israel until 1995, during which time he also did part-time per diem work in urgent and outpatient care for the Fair Lawn Medical Attention Center in Fair Lawn, NJ. Starting in 1994, he worked in urgent and outpatient care at the Saddle Brook Medical Center.

Dr. Rego left these positions in 1995 to work part time per diem in urgent and outpatient care at several other medical care centers such as Priority Medical Care and EMO Medical Care. This is also when ge became Madison Medical Center’s Medical Director. He also became the Medical Director of Overlook Hospital at the same time. His duties in this capacity included responsibility for administration as well as inpatient and outpatient care.

When the Madison Medical Center merged with the Morristown Medical Center, Ramon became an Associate Attending Physician in Morristown’s Department of Medicine. Soon after he joined the Medical Diagnostic Associates of Chatham, NJ, as an associate physician, and later as a shareholder physician.

After leaving the Medical Diagnostic Associates in 2004, Dr. Rego joined the Fanwood Primary Care Center as Medical Director and began working in both administrative and outpatient primary care. Three years later, in 2007, he left this role to return to working in primary, urgent, and outpatient care medicine at EMO Medical Care.

In 2009, Ramon Rego, M.D. left EMO Medical to again become an Associate Attending Physician at the Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. He also served as a house physician responsible for hospitalized patients on wards and ICUs. During his time here, he was awarded the Excellence in Caring Award from Saint Barnabas Health Care Systems.

Dr. Rego then left the Community Medical Center to join the Santangelo Medical Center in primary and urgent care outpatient medicine. When the owner of the office closed the practice in 2013, Ramon Rego joined Kinnelon Medical and Wellness, where he still works to this day in internal medicine.
Both in his medical practice today and in his goals for the future, Ramon Rego, M.D. strives to see as many patients as he can so that he can assist them with whatever medical issues they may suffer from. In doing this, he hopes to provide each and every patient with a better quality of life. To assist in this goal, he encourages every patient that he sees to participate in more preventative care measures to improve their current health and avoid potential problems later on down the line.

Dr. Rego also plans to continue reviewing both the personal and family medical history of every future patient. By doing so, he will be able to improve their quality of care significantly by identifying and prescribing the most appropriate and effective type of preventative care and treatment. For instance, if a patient shows up with a history of heart disease, he will recommend that patient begin performing special exercises and go on a special diet to lessen their risk of heart health complication.

Ramon also continues to work against the misconception that vaccinations are only for children, as many of his adult patients come to him with gaps in their vaccination needs. By making sure that each of his patients stays current and up to date on their vaccinations, Dr. Rego can assist them in avoiding serious health issues once again.

Most of all, though, Ramon Rego, M.D. plans to spend more time with his family. He has been married since 1984, and he and his wife have raised two daughters, now ages 19 and 24. He looks forward to being an empty nester soon and has made it a goal to travel around Europe with his family, particularly Italy and Spain.
