Singapore-based fashionista Leah Selakovic shares news and insider tips about up-and-coming designers and the latest trends in fashion

A native European who relocated to Asia, Leah Selakovic combines her academic background in the arts with her impeccable sense for fashion to spread the news about young as well as established designers, much to the delight of other fashion aficionados.

Leah Selakovic, who was born and raised in the former Republic of Yugoslavia, attended university to obtain a Master’s degree in Art and Classical History, which would later prove to be a great foundation to understand the reoccurrence of old patterns and the emergence of new trends. Leah’s interest for art in general soon developed into a special interest for fashion on and off the runway resulting in a collection of amazing masterpieces of clothing in her wardrobe and close relationships to designers from all over the world.

While Leah’s husband focused on his career in the IT business – an endeavor that caused the couple to relocate to Singapore – Leah took advantage of the opportunity to broaden her horizon and start exploring the Asian fashion and designer world. Thanks to her connections to European and Asian key players in the industry, Leah attends numerous fashion shows and events and gets to interview designers about their latest masterpieces, the visions and their inspirations.

Amongst Leah’s favorite classic designers are Coco Chanel, who served not only as an inspiration to her wardrobe, but also to her home, after Leah was granted access to Coco’s private apartment in Paris, or Italian watchmaker Audemars Piguet, who just celebrated the 40th birthday of the famed Royal Oak. On her designer blog Leah Selakovic shares her knowledge about the history of established labels, anecdotes she experienced in the fashion world and writes about new trends in the scene, both in Europe and Asia.

Leah’s apartment showcases her passion for the bold and the beautiful and combines modern Asian chic with selected furniture and pictures from Europe, creating a retreat filled with art, history and a hint of nostalgia brought about by an unusual collection of quirky and classy eye catchers, including rare books, antique maps, art jewelry and vintage cameras. It is there where she writes her blogs, inspiring others to indulge in the fashion world and learn more about its history.

Despite her fashionable lifestyle, Leah Selakovic never forgets to give back to society. Together with her husband she supports a variety of charitable organizations, including several archaeological societies and charities that focus on supporting young talented and gifted artists. Leah and David are particularly passionate about helping young musicians, medical students and scientists to attain their full potential. While they generally support the young benefactors anonymously, they secretly follow the progress of these individuals, always happy to witness what positive impact on somebody else’s life a donation can have.
