James Seramba is an experienced, extremely competent and well-educated wealth management professional who specializes in providing financial planning and investment management services to high net worth individuals. In addition, James lives in Greensboro, North Carolina provides consulting services to both institutional entities and privately held enterprises.

James F. Seramba is a highly motivated and experienced professional in the field of financial planning and investment management. He has a comprehensive understanding of many aspects related to the field, including value investing, security analysis, asset allocation modeling, alternative investments, investment manager due diligence and the overall functioning of the capital markets. All of these skills were developed over an 18 plus year tenure in the wealth management industry and through the obtaining of both the Certified Financial Planner and Certified Investment Management Analyst designations. In addition, his skills have a foundation in higher education as he has a dual degree in Economics Mechanical Engineering from West Point and a Master’s of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in finance from Wake Forest University.

Seramba has also received a great deal of recognition and acknowledgement for his skills and experience in financial planning and investment management. His ability to acquire, retain and manage a large number of high net worth clients is of particular note, as is his achievement of 10 percent growth in both revenue and assets for five years straight despite the challenging conditions of the market at the time. Other management skills and financial strengths for which he is often noted include the following:

• Leadership Skills
• Team Collaboration
• Client Advisory
• Asset Allocation
• High-Profile Management Presentation
• Continuous Process Improvement
• Risk Management
• Strategic Planning
• Profit and Loss Analysis
• Investment Due Diligence
• Operational Efficiency and Execution
• Market Research
• Capital Budgeting

Much of the success that James has achieved throughout his professional life can be attributed to his strong discipline, which he gained through his early engineering and military training. Another major player in this success would be the training and experience that he received through developing an extremely successful wealth management practice, mentoring other financial services professionals and providing consulting services to the owners of privately held enterprises. In fact, Seramba led a successful management buy-out of a division of Alcoa in 2003.

James is unique within his industry because his skill set goes far beyond that of an average financial advisor. The combination of his military and engineering experience, in addition to his education in business administration, make Seramba an incredibly well-rounded expert in his field.

To boast the skills and record of success that he does today, James Seramba naturally has had a wealth of professional experience on top of a quality education. By starting himself off with an excellent business and military foundation and building on top of it ever since, he has turned his professional history into an incredibly valuable asset in the present.

Educational Background

James got his start as a successful professional in his industries of choice the same way that most successful individuals get started: with an extensive and quality education.

For him, this meant first joining the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. Here he studied both mechanical engineering and economics. Jim graduated in 1986 in the top 10 percent of his graduating class, earning his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering with a minor in economics.

James F. Seramba later expanded on his undergraduate education by enrolling in Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC. Here his coursework largely emphasized finance, security analysis, and general management. He graduated from here in 1999 with his master’s degree in business administration.

In addition, hehas also earned several licenses throughout his career. These include an insurance license as well as Series 3, 7, 24, 31, 63, and 65 licenses. In addition, he has earned both his Certified Financial Planner and Certified Investment Management Analyst designations.

History of Military Service

After graduating from West Point in 1986, James Seramba joined the United States Army as an armor officer initially stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. He excelled in this role for seven years serving in combat units in worldwide assignments.

During this time, James served as a platoon leader, assistant operations officer, company executive officer and company commander twice. He also fought with the 1st Infantry Division during Operation Desert Storm as the assistant operations officer of a tank task force and commanded that unit’s tactical operations center during combat operations. During his final assignment in Germany, he lead and managed 248 troops as the company commander of a maintenance unit and 70 soldiers as the company commander of tank company.

After committing seven years of excellent service to his country, he received his Honorable Discharge in 1993.

Professional Experience

Once out of the army, he transitioned to the private sector and joined Guardian Industries, a private glass manufacturer in Carlton, MI, in 1993. He came onboard as an Industrial Engineer tasked with managing the company’s environmental compliance function and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Here he ensured full adherence to all state and federal work safety regulations as well as helped to optimize the general work environment for all company personnel.

In 1995, after two years with Guardian Industries, James F. Seramba relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina in order to pursue a career in the financial services sector. Here he joined Merrill Lynch as a Financial Consultant in Greensboro, where he offered strategic financial guidance to individuals of both medium and high net worth. He also demonstrated outstanding professional adaptability by completing the firm’s 24-month financial advisory training program in just 18 months.

Jim left Merrill Lynch in 1999 when he was recruited to join UBS as a financial advisor. Here he was in charge of covering 125 clients from varied and diverse backgrounds, analyzing their portfolios and evaluating their investments to maximize returns as well as providing financial planning services to high net worth families. He was recognized for his excellent leadership and marketing skills when he succeeded in growing $32 million in client assets to $75 million, more than doubling its initial value. Finally, due to his competence and skills as an advisor, Seramba was selected to mentor the junior advisors in three regional offices of UBS even though he himself only had 6 years tenure in the industry. He was successful in reducing new advisor attrition by 50 percent and increasing productivity by 35 percent.

Finally, after seven successful years at UBS, James F. Seramba became an owner and managing partner of Grey Oak Wealth Management in 2006. In leading, directing, and managing this asset management firm, Seramba was in charge of 75 clients with investable assets totaling over $62 million. Through his excellent networking, and personal referrals, he generated the majority of the company’s business himself. In June 2013, James successfully sold the firm.

Philanthropic Endeavors

In addition to all of his successes in both the wealth management industry and the military, Jim Seramba also boasts an impressive history of charitable pursuits. From 1999 to 2011 he was significantly involved with Toys for Tots, raising 10 percent of all total donations in his area. He is also an animal lover who used to foster dogs, taking them in, socializing them and caring for them until they were healthy enough for adoption. These endeavors on top of his many other donations to charities for children and animals help to show the real quality of James Seramba’s character.

As a proven expert in wealth management, James F. Seramba is confident in his abilities and knowledge, and his many past successes give clear indication as to why. Now he plans to strive toward achieving his professional goals more than ever, leading to even greater success stories in the future by leveraging all that he has learned so far and strengthening his focus even further.

For starters, Jim plans to work with several expansion projects and takeover operations.
Seramba is also on the lookout for new employment opportunities in which to put his unique and impressive skills to good use. As an experienced professional who is adept at portfolio optimization and diversification, asset origination, investment management, and much more, Jim knows that he has many valuable skills to offer to any wealth management company looking to bring in the best talent in the industry. The invaluable leadership, organizational skills, and discipline that he brings with him from his days in the military also present a unique and useful package to any business.

But as his skill set goes beyond that of a mere financial advisor, so too do his plans for the future. For instance, James Seramba has always been a philanthropically minded individual and will remain so going forward. As a lover of children and animals, this means continuing to make regular charitable donations to organizations in North Carolina and around the World that focus on assisting underprivileged children and caring for animals whenever possible.
