Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York resident, is a stay-at-home mom of two sons, with an extensive background in working in sales and marketing.
Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York resident, is a stay-at-home mom of ten years. She currently lives in Somers, New York, with her family, including her 10-year-old son Sean, who is in fourth grade at Somers Intermediate School, and her 6-year-old son Matthew, who is in first grade at Primrose Elementary School. Connelly had a thriving career in sales and marketing before her sons were born, but she decided to stay at home with her children full-time because she enjoys caring for them and helping them to grow, thrive and cultivate new interests.

Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York, is extremely passionate about sports, particularly skiing, tennis and jogging. Her favorite places to ski are Stratton, Vermont, and the Jay Peak in Vermont, and she gets there whenever she can. Both of her sons are currently involved in youth sports, including lacrosse and football, and she enjoys cheering them on from the sidelines. Connelly has always been passionate about the outdoors, and held several jobs in this area before she became a stay-at-home mom. She has since passed this love on to her children. The whole family has an admiration for nature and wildlife, and spends time outdoors whenever possible. Connelly actively takes a stand against cruelty towards animals through her involvement in the ASPCA, and spends lots of time with the family’s bulldog. In her free time, Connelly can be found reading books from her three favorite authors, Stephen King, Janet Evonovich and David Baldacci, or listening to Stevie Nicks, the Dave Matthews Band or Howard Stern.
Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York, received her bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, in 1991. After graduating, Connelly spent almost ten years working at a variety of companies geared towards outdoor experiences, where she discovered her passion for learning through outdoor adventures. She then made the move into the marketing industry, where she worked until the birth of her first child.

Outdoor Experience

Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York resident, found her passion for the outdoors at a young age. In 1985, while still in high school, she traveled to Antigua to work with The Experiment in International Living. During her time in Antigua she helped to rebuild the community reservoir system and hospital in St. John’s. The following year, in 1986, she attended the National Outdoor Leadership School in Wyoming, where she took part in a backpacking adventure in Yellowstone National Park. The experience cemented her love of the outdoors, which she further expanded in 1987, when she attended courses in whitewater rafting and mountaineering through Outward Bound, a provider of experience-based outdoor leadership programs for young adults.

In 1987 Connelly began attending Wittenberg University in Ohio. She brought her love of all things outdoors with her, and interned at the Sierra Club, a non-profit dedicated to protecting the environment, in Washington, D.C. in 1991. Also in 1991, she attended the School for International Training in Tanzania, Africa, for a year. After graduating from the university, Connelly set out to find a job that incorporated her love for the outdoors and for the planet. In 1992 she began to work with the Save the Redwoods campaign in San Francisco, California, where she worked as an administrative assistant. She worked with the campaign for a year, but left in 1993 to attend the American River Guide School at American Whitewater Expeditions in Coloma, California. While attending this school, she also worked as a deckhand and sales coordinator at “Let’s Go Sailing,” a charter company in San Francisco, California. She served in this position from 1992 to 1995. It was this job as sales coordinator that would inspire her to establish herself in the marketing industry, which she would do after a brief stint as a flight attendant with Reno Air between 1995 and 1996.

Sales and Marketing Experience

After working briefly as a flight attendant in California, Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York resident, decided she wanted a change of career—and of scenery. She subsequently moved to New York in 1996, and began working at Rolling Stone Magazine. At the magazine she served as an advertising sales assistant. In this role she assisted the New York fashion manager and the executive in charge of liquor accounts and European fashion in sales and marketing activities. She also worked on several accounts, including Heineken and Footlocker/Champs. Additional duties included evaluating competing magazines’ advertising strategies and creating portfolios for a variety of clients.

Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York, left Rolling Stone Magazine in 1997 and joined the team at Comedy Central, where her career would continue to advance. Connelly originally was hired as the promotion assistant to the vice president of promotion marketing, a position she would hold for one year. In this position she was responsible for the budget for the promotion marketing department. Additionally, she tracked media opportunities for the sales team and brainstormed promotional ideas and opportunities. In 1998, Connelly was promoted to Coordinator of Direct Response Marketing, a sales position, after learning the facets of selling and scheduling airtime, and developing a client list. She served in this position until 1999, when she was promoted to Account Executive of Direct Marketing. In this position she was part of a two-person team responsible for a variety of aspects of direct response marketing. While serving in this role she priced, sold and scheduled direct response commercials and infomercial spots. While she held this position the team surpassed the $16 million 1999 budget.

In 2000, Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York resident, left Comedy Central and began working as an account executive at Black Book Magazine. Although she only held this position for a year she made great strides for the company, including launching the beauty and fragrance category for the magazine and bringing the magazine new business. Additionally, she managed the existing accounts for accessories, jewelry, liquor and tobacco.

In 2000 Connelly left Black Book Magazine and joined the staff at the Game Show Network, where she served as the account executive for the direct marketing department. In this role she was responsible for pricing, selling and scheduling all direct response advertising for the network. While working in this position she generated approximately $4.5 million per quarter in short-form advertising and paid programing.

Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York resident, left the Game Show Network in 2001 and went to work for Sony Pictures Entertainment, where she served as an account executive for DIRECTV. In this position she reported to the senior vice president of advertising sales for Sony Pictures Entertainment and the senior vice president for DIRECTV in El Segundo, California. While working as the account executive she sold and scheduled approximately 2,000 units of direct response commercial advertising per week on 40 different cable channels on DIRECTV. Also, in 2001, she booked $45 million in ad sales for DIRECTV and Sony Pictures Entertainment, more than double the revenue brought in by the previous account executive.
In 2002 Connelly left her job at Sony Pictures Entertainment to become a stay-at-home mom to her first child, Sean. Her second son, Matthew, was born four years later.

Since becoming a stay-at-home mom, Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York, has become involved with several charitable endeavors. In addition to volunteering at her son’s schools Connelly has supported the local fire department and given back to the ASPCA. One cause that Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York, is particularly passionate about as a New York resident is Tuesday’s Children, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the families of those lost in the September 11 terrorist attacks. She has contributed regularly to the organization in the past.
As she moves forward, Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York resident, plans to continue dedicating herself to her two sons and helping them grow into upstanding, productive and thriving young men. Connelly plans to continue to support her sons in their two favorite sports, lacrosse and football, as they make their way into more organized sport leagues. She hopes to be able to volunteer with them in the coming years, as they both make their way into middle school and eventually high school.

Jennifer Connelly, Katonah, New York, plans to continue her hobbies, as well. She hopes to travel to Vermont soon to get in some skiing time. She hopes she can find enough time between taking care of her boys to pick up a Stephen King novel she hasn’t read, or to get out on the tennis court and work on her serve.

Connelly plans to continue to support the ASPCA and the local fire department, and will continue contributing to Tuesday’s Children, a cause extremely near and dear to her heart. Although she occasionally misses her high-profile career working in sales and marketing in New York City, she enjoys being able to spend every day with her two young sons, and plans to continue doing so as they grow up. She hopes to see them grow into respectable young men with bright futures, and plans to cherish every moment with them while she still has the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom.
