Chadd Corwin is a medical device and pharmaceutical professional, public speaker, and consultant.
Chadd Corwin is a long time medical device and pharmaceutical professional, with a proven history of effective and productive sales management. A self-starting worker, he actively engages with every phase of the task at hand, whether it is supervising employees, dealing with clients, or giving a presentation in a sales environment. He thrives in a competitive environment, constantly pushing himself to be the best. He also enjoys collaborating and building results as part of a team effort.

Chadd Corwin has also made a name for himself as a dynamic public speaker. He has an indisputable talent for presenting complex and technical information to a varied audience. Using his people skills and proven sales techniques, he engages them with the material, introduces new ideas and gets the listener thinking about these ideas. He also puts his presentation skills to work by teaching. As a surgical sales specialist, Corwin is responsible for training surgeons and technicians in new scientific and surgical techniques. This again utilizes his people skills, his thorough knowledge of the product at hand, and his understanding of the material.

Chadd’s discipline and work ethic show in his personal life, as well as in the professional realm. A lifelong athlete, he enjoys playing golf, sailing, and swimming. He has been a polo player since middle school. Always pushing for a new challenge, Corwin is a dedicated triathlete and Tough Mudder. His love of adventure has led him to enter into the world of auto racing and has also motivated him to obtain a private pilot’s license. Chadd Corwin wears many hats, all with the same discipline, dedication, and talent.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Chadd Corwin attended Catholic schools growing up. The son of a minister and a saleswoman, he was exposed to many people of different walks of life during his formative years. Watching his parents in their respective professions, he quickly acquired top-notch people skills. With his natural talents and his parents’ direction, he began to use his empathy and understanding to build the connections and skills necessary for a successful life. His empathy was not reserved for his personal benefit; in high school Corwin volunteered at homeless shelters around the city.

His childhood also brought him in touch with his other great love: athletics. During his school days, he swam and played polo. As he grew older, he discovered golf. These activities taught him many life lessons about teamwork, dedication, discipline, and the rewards of consistent effort.

Chadd Corwin put himself through college at Eastern Michigan University. While there, he was an active part of all aspects of campus life. A member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, he served as the group’s activity director. He also worked as the Liaison for Greek Affairs to the office of the Dean of Students. Academically, he excelled at chemistry and biology, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry in 1999. Having married Jennifer Haskin just before graduation, he deferred his own plans to attend medical school in order to support her goal of earning a Ph.D. The couple’s first child, James, was born in 1999. A dedicated man, Chadd proved a loving and devoted husband and father.

Corwin was a full academic success during his student days. His peer-reviewed paper, “Neurohormonal Pathogenesis via Impaired Liver Function; a Biochemical Pathway in Parkinsonism” received an impressive amount of attention for an undergraduate research paper. The work earned him a Special Honor for research at the Intercollegiate Science Symposium. With this accolade under his belt, he soon found work as part of a research team of scientists. A research associate at the University of Michigan, Chadd was responsible for coordinating and supervising all research projects, proposals, and information at the prestigious Tausig Lab. As part of a complex research project, he created proteins which were used in the reverse engineering of existing DNA constructs, instructed graduate students on the proper research techniques needed in the project, oversaw preliminary placement, and implemented safety protocols and management criteria for the material aspects of the lab. This position not only developed his scientific skills, but further promoted his leadership and management abilities. The core of his career was forged.

When his stint in the world of research ended, Chadd found himself drawn to pharmaceutical and medical sales. The work intrigued him, as it allowed him to make full use of a range of skills: salesmanship, management, empathy, and his scientific background. Corwin had other motivations toward a successful career: his second child Daphne would be born in 2000, and his third, Ava, in 2004. Now, his own internal drive had been reinforced by his desire to give his children the best life possible.

With his characteristic enthusiasm, Chadd threw himself into the world of sales. Training with several consultancies and coaching groups, he rapidly absorbed everything he could about sales technique, networking, sales team management and the products he would represent. Chadd Corwin had found his perfect career. He began in the industry as a cardiovascular sales specialist with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, working in southeastern Michigan. Responsible for increasing market share and penetration in the region and developing lasting relationships with physicians and hospitals, Corwin proved more than equal to the task. He was an absolute and immediate success, earning a number of accolades from the organization, including:

• The AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals sales award in 2000, 2001, and 2004
• Numerous AstraZeneca Customer Focus awards between 2000 and 2004
• A national convention delegate to the ACC and ACP conventions between 2002 and 2004.
• National Product Training Champion at AstraZeneca in 2004

Chadd Corwin set sales and penetration records during his time at AstraZeneca. Not only did he greatly benefit a major player in the pharmaceutical industry, but he also developed the connections and skills he would need for his own ongoing success in the field.

From AstraZeneca, Chadd moved on to work with other industry giants. He worked for Daiichi-Sankyo in Michigan, building a multi-organizational and multi-disciplinary team which worked to launch an innovative hospital product. His marketing strategy and product knowledge combined in a successful way, and the product was rapidly adopted by cardiac labs and surgeons through the region. He would later work his magic at CorMatrix Cardiovascular. Building on his experiences at Daiichi-Sankyo, Chadd Corwin attained 55 percent saturation for this new product line in two years. With his direction, sales in the district grew 150 percent each year, rapidly becoming an industry benchmark.

As his career developed, Chadd discovered another great strength: public speaking. His presentation skills and professional acumen rapidly made him a highly-sought out speaker at other professional events and conferences, including:

• “Molecular Biology Basics” and “Immune Response in Regenerative Medicine”
2011-present, Various Hospital Venues, National

• “Health care Disparities in Race, Gender and Socioeconomics in the United States”
2006-2009, Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, MI and Washtenaw Community College, Ypsilanti, MI

• “Effective Anti-Detailing: Make the Other Guy’s Information Work for You!”
February 2004, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Regional Meeting, Grand Rapids, MI

• “Pharmaceutical Pricing Strategies and Their Effects on Industry and Society”
November 2003, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Michigan Meeting, Novi, MI

• “The Changing Role of Heart Failure Therapies: Same Drugs, New Disease”
December 2003, Monroe Medical Society Cardiology Symposium, Monroe, MI

• “Cardiovascular Update: New Agents and Guidelines”
October 2002, Select Care Specialty Hospital In-service, Ypsilanti, MI

In these presentations, Chadd combines his sales skills and academic background with his natural love of an audience to present complex information in an informative and engaging way.

Personally, Chadd Stuart Corwin’s love of athletics has continued. In addition to the sports of his youth—golf, swimming, polo—he also discovered a love of sailing, automobile racing, and small aircraft flying. Chadd Corwin began competing regularly as a triathlete and a tough mudder, using those events to test his abilities in a dynamic way.
Chadd Corwin plans to continue to lead the full life he has developed thus far. He is expanding his athletic activities, travelling around the nation to compete as a triathlete as often as possible. A four-time tough mudder, he plans on getting more involved with that activity in the future. A single parent, Chadd enjoys spending time with his kids and doing what he can to support other professionals in his position.

Professionally, Corwin seeks further opportunities to refine his extensive skill set and develop his presence in his chosen industry. As the Baby Boomer generation moves into retirement, surgical and medical sales will become an increasingly vital economic sector. Sales are rapidly rising in all branches of the industry as demand grows. Compounding this, new technologies are coming into play every day that change the field. This environment demands sales representatives that understand the complexities of the product and the ways in which it is sold. People like Corwin will prove vital to directing the future of pharmaceutical and surgical sales so that the industry can function at full effectiveness.

As a result of his experiences in the medical field and his role as a parent, Chadd has become involved with children’s hospitals, working to support them via benefits and other charity work. The good work they do is near and dear to his heart, and he works tirelessly on their behalf. He is inspired by the things he has witnessed personally while working in hospitals, by his love for his own children, and by the dedication his parents showed him. Chadd Corwin is a man of many talents driven by his own dedication and discipline and destined for success in any endeavor.
