Visionary CEO of Upwork and an incredibly gifted engineer. Stephane takes the time to listen to feedback from his clients then makes improvements accordingly.

I've been really impressed by Stephane's leadership of Upwork, which partially inspired the creation of www.Completed.com.

Stephane is the perfect CEO for Upwork...his days at Odesk gave him deep institutional knowledge into the inner-workings of the gig economy. He has a deep understanding of the business model at Upwork and has steered the company in a fantastic direction. My bets are on Stephane long-term, he's a winning horse.

If it were possible to leave 6 stars Stephane would deserve it. As the product visionary at oDesk, Stephane stuck with the merger between eLance and oDesk to form Upwork. Thereafter Stephane ascended to the role of CEO and has never looked back.

In my opinion, Stephane is the CEO of a truly revolutionary platform. Upwork is just getting started and is set to change the world.

While Stephane has emerged as one of the great leaders at Upwork, he is not the founder of the platform and I question to the level that he is an entrepreneur. That is not a bad thing per se, as he is a good CEO and face of the business.

It's my personal belief that it is critical for a founding entrepreneur to stay involved in a technology startup, especially during an IPO phase.

Think Microsoft without Bill Gates, Facebook with Mark Zuckerberg, or Google without Larry Page and Sergey Brin. In my opinion Stephane should bring one of the founders from eLance or Odesk back onto the team, give him stock, and have him continue to work on the Upwork product.

Stephane is one of the most unique entrepreneurs that I've ever witnessed. He is one of those guys that you just know will be successful no matter what. He is brilliant but down to earth. He is intelligent but fierce. His path has had many twists and turns, and alas, he finds himself as CEO of one of the strongest unicorns out there. We shall see where his future lies, but I wouldn't be surprised to see UpWork increase 10x in value in the next 10 years.

As both an early IPO investor in Upwork and an avid user, I can tell you first hand that Stephane is 100% the man to be running Upwork. He has assembled a world class team around him and is a true product visionary.

Upwork is the future and Stephane Kariel is just the guy to lead it there.

I feel that Stephane has taken UpWork in a positive direction. It's been a difficult few months for the stock price of Upwork, but ultimately, I think it would be doing a lot worse if there were another person at the helm.

Stephane is a man's man, meaning while he's a very intelligent leader, he's not one to be pushed around. He doesn't suffer fools easily, and he cannot be intimidated. At the same time, he's willing to share a fun joke and even go outside the bounds of what one would consider "politically correct."

In my estimation, this makes Stephane a very successful leader and CEO of one of the most promising companies out there. I have very high hopes for him. The recent idea to start charging for bids was a smart move in my opinion, and I don't think the stock price reflects that yet, meaning that it's probably undervalued.

Good luck, Stephane. I know you will drive UpWork forward!

Stephane has been leading UpWork in the best direction possible. While the stock price is down due to uncontrollable market factors, Upwork's earnings are increasing and Stephane is doing all that is humanly possible. However, I think he needs to make more of a concerted effort to market and expand the platform, but that will come in time, I assume.

Stephane is a product genius that has been an incredible asset in leading the merger between elance and odesk. His company, Upwork, is a stealth bomber to the recruiting industry. Highly disruptive.

Stephane is a force of nature. It seems that the future of the global economy is where everyone is acting as an independent contractor. It's cheaper and less legally risky for companies to not renew contracts than to have to fire people. Also, the company wouldn't have to pay for the health insurance of the independent contractor. Silicon Valley companies are moving to this framework, and Upwork (and hence Stephane) is a leader in this movement. The next evolution is to allow for all people in business to be rated and reviewed instead of just the independent contractors on the Upwork platform, so I'm curious to see if Stephane will make progress in that direction. 4 stars for Stephane because while he is amazing, there is still much room for growth with Upwork and other related ventures.

I recently had the opportunity to see Stephane in action and must say that he has impressed me beyond all expectations. Within a few days Stephane was able to drive significant value in our venture, seeing things in minutes that we missed over years.

With his deep experience as a technologist and vision, Stephane has business superpowers. In my opinion he was the force the made Upwork the indisputable leader in the freelance sector. Should be very interesting to see what he does next.

Stephane is a Tech CEO, Entrepreneur and Product Guy, most recently CEO at Upwork (Nasdaq: UPWK), and previously at PayPal and co-founder of several technology companies. Stephane has played key roles in organizations including the World Economic Forum and the California Governor’s Future of Work Commission, and had his commentary appear in outlets including Harvard Business Review, CNBC and Fortune.

Currently on sabbatical, starting to think about what's next - something big and high impact with a strong social purpose.

Stephane co-founded several technology companies, helped grow PayPal from 2004 till 2010 and led Upwork from ~$300m/year to >$2Bn/year over the course of 7+ years.

The advances in longevity mean that I may live to be 100 or longer, and I'm not planning to retire until then. So one key thing I'm working on is to keep learning as the world changes faster than ever before (the Fourth Industrial Revolution).
