John Dul’s Early Work Experience

For little over a year between his graduation from the University of Miami and his enrollment at Northwestern University School of Law, Dul worked as a Certified Public Accountant for the international accounting firm Deloitte, in its Miami office. As an associate in the firm’s audit department, he conducted regulatory and financial audits. Notable achievements include passing the CPA exam on the first attempt and discovering instances of fraud on a banking client through the performance of a forensic audit.

After graduating from Northwestern University’s School of Law in 1986, Dul joined Chapman & Cutler, a large law firm in Chicago, IL. Here he worked for two years as an associate in their securities department. His responsibilities in this position included assisting in the drafting of prospectuses, assuring compliance with state securities laws, and conducting due diligence for underwriters.

In 1988, Dul left Chapman & Cutler for the mid-size law firm of Shefsky & Froelich. Here he became an associate in the corporate department, where he assisted the partners in all aspects of corporate practice within the firm. He served as either lead or secondary counsel to small and medium-sized privately held companies. It was in this role that he became familiar with his future employer Anixter.
