Jeffrey Heisner is a Connecticut-based disaster recovery consultant who has worked in the industry for over 15 years. In 2005, he was once again honored in response to his services to help with the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. The Federal Emergency Management Agency applauded his services as an emergency management, business continuity, and disaster recovery professional as well. Recently, Jeffrey was awarded the title of Top Global Business Continuity Industry Influencer by the Business Continuity Management Institute.

To this day, he lives up to the same standards that have allowed him to get recognized, and he hopes to only continue his improvements from there. With a wide range of talents, ranging from team leadership to client relations, he is able to tackle any problems regarding disaster recovery and business continuity that come his way.
Jeffrey Heisner attended New York University from 1967 to 1969. It was at this time that he worked toward his degree in computer and information sciences and support services. He would then return to college roughly twenty years later, this time attending Quinnipiac University. From 1986 to 1989, he studied information technology.

Jeffrey has led a rich life full of many various endeavors. From January 1989 to June 1991, he was an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University, which is located in Fairfield, Connecticut. While he was here, he taught courses that revolved around Information Technology, Computer Operating Systems, and Business Systems Design. While he was teaching at Sacred Heart University, Jeffrey Heisner also acted as an adjunct professor at his alma mater, Quinnipiac. From September 1988 to September 1991, he taught similar classes at this Hamden, Connecticut-based University, as well as Computer Operating Systems and Computer Literacy.

From June 1986 to June 1999, Jeffrey Heisner worked as the Assistant Director of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery for NASDAQ and the AMEX Stock Exchanges. He was instrumental in the development and implementation of the NASD & NASD Compliance Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Program at these institutions. The program was designed to identify and address requirements, risk assessment, backup recovery, command center operations, and incident management.

For a brief while, Jeff worked as a Consultant in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery for Hartford Life Insurance in Simsbury, Connecticut. From June to December 1999, he directed and led a team of information technology-oriented employees through the assessment and planning of disaster recovery protection initiatives. His efforts led to a fortification of corporate through integration into the way Hartford Life Insurance Companies conducted business.

Guoxin Lucent Technologies Network Technology Co., Ltd., employed him as its Manager of Disaster Recovery Business Continuity and Telephony. Jeffrey worked here from June 1999 to April 2001, managing and leading teams of business units, information technology staff, vendor personnel, and engineers through his various specialties. This includes business continuity, disaster prevention, recovery planning, maintenance, training, awareness, and much more. He was also in charge of delivering support and governance over telephony, business, and technology risks and safeguards.

Jeffrey Heisner brought his talents to General Electric from May 2001 to May 2003. As the Global BC/DR Senior Consultant, he was tasked with managing the emergency management, disaster recovery, and business continuity program within the company. He was the subject matter expert for the company and assisted over 357 divisions with identifying business function requirements, geographical risks, and solutions to address issues. It was due to Jeffrey’s efforts that the company was able to conduct business as usual during the New York City power outage that occurred in August 2003 and a massive fire December 2002 in one of their remote offices.

After working at General Electric, Heisner loaned his talents to Morgan Stanley, working as a consultant between May 2003 and June 2004. He had plenty of responsibilities, similar tocomplete the ones that he had held in earlier positions. Most of his work was focused on managing disaster recovery and ensuring that the company could still run at high-quality efficiency in the event of a disaster. He led the infrastructure and Applications Disaster Recovery Team through a strategy that allowed them to exercise and assure that the company’s 30 most important applications were recoverable in case of a loss caused by a disaster at the primary facility.

Jeffrey worked with the notable company Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey from April 2008 to December 2009. As the manager of the disaster recovery division, he was in charge of risk analysis, developing strategies and solutions, deploying administrations, testing and exercising emergency response, and ensuring business continuity. Seeing as this company dealt with health insurance and administration, he held major responsibilities to keep the systems up and running in the event of an incident. Jeffrey Heisner developed proactive, responsive, and cost-effective solutions and measures that assured both internal and external customer support with improved satisfaction.
Jeffrey Heisner played a crucial part in the relief effort for multiple disasters. Since he started in his venture into disaster recovery in 1986, he has helped out during the following crises:

- Hurricane Sandy, level 3 hurricane, in October 2012
- Snowstorm Nemo in February 2013
- Berkley Heights, New Jersey Tornado in July 2013

During his extensive foray into the disaster recovery and business continuity field, he accumulated several certifications to help with his endeavors. As of recently, Heisner is certified in the following areas:
- Homeland Security Level 1
- Program Management Professionals
- Physical Security Professional – ASIS Advanced Security International
- USCG Auxiliary Instructor

But the list does not stop here. Jeffrey hopes to continue on his career path and to expand his expertise. The unfortunate truth is that natural disasters can occur at any time, and there are still people and businesses that are unprepared on how to handle the situation. Luckily, people like Jeffrey Heisner have the training and knowledge needed to help people make it through these disasters with minor inconveniences.
