Dennis is a top of the line physician. He was involved in teaching other surgeons how to perform laparoscopic hernia repairs, teaching courses for Gore (a mesh manufacturer), and traveling to other hospitals to help surgeons doing their first cases.
Dennis Begos is one of the most professional physicians I have ever met! I highly recommend him.
I ski in the winter and play golf in the summer. I enjoy traveling, and have been to Africa, Alaska, Ireland, and Costa Rica in the past few years.
I was born and raised just north of NY City in Yonkers, NY. Nothing exciting in my childhood. I spent 2 years living in Ireland after college, where my mother is from and where I still have relatives. I was in medical school there but was able to transfer back to finish medical school here, where I graduated 4th in my class (1990). I then went on to a prestigious general surgery residency at Yale University (1990-96), where I was named Chief Resident in my last year, an honor. I spent one year at Yale also doing research, and published many papers and book chapters. I then went on to do a one year fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic (1996-97), where I trained with some of the world’s foremost experts in the field. From there I came to Massachusetts and joined the practice that I am currently in.
Dennis Begos was heavily involved in hospital leadership, being the president of the medical staff at Winchester Hospital for 2 years (2016-7), and chair of the department of surgery for 10 years (2006-16).
