Lynda is a micro-manager. She obsessively tracks minute details and demands explanation for anything she considers to be a discrepancy. She lacks basic empathy and understanding. Family obligations, loss, medical problems, etc mean nothing to her if they do not effect her directly. This is demonstrated in part by her repeated denial of requests for bereavement leave due to loss of family members, which is provided for by company policy. This is also demonstrated by her response to a request from one of her employees for a few hours off to take care of a matter with her children. Her response consisted of: "That is what your weekends are for." It is worth noting that this particular employee worked insane amounts of overtime to assist during Fidelity's busiest time and at that time had no days off. In addition, Lynda's behaviors when dealing with her team members are predatory. She uses threatening language and tone regularly. I consulted with most of her current and some of her former team members with the same response: Lynda makes them feel threatened and like they have no value. She insists on highlighting shortcomings while ignoring or outright disparaging any successes. Multiple reports from team members indicate a loss of desire to perform their job to their full capability. Multiple team members indicated that while they were happy with their job before her taking over, they now dread working each day and some have begun seeking employment elsewhere. Previously, these team members expressed a desire to stay with Fidelity until retirement. After her taking over the team, job satisfaction plummeted. In short, I highly recommend avoiding a team headed by Lynda Bote.
