Toxic Environment That Keeps Everyone On Edge I would also like to start my review by saying I left voluntarily and in good standing, mostly because I couldn't get away from this atmosphere fast enough. 2 of the 4 owners act and speak in an incredibly demeaning manner and have a major superiority complex. Agree with the other reviews on The Family - the "CEO" has no experience and treats everyone horribly. I've never felt overwhelming panic and dread the way I did walking into work every single day working there. Not because I wasn't good at my job, but because you never know what mood you will find. They distrust everyone, make employees turn against each other and try to take away every shred of confidence you have. It's well known in the company that they discuss one employee negatively with others, and choose their favorites (usually males). Everyone there has a horror story about The Family, and there's so much turnover because they seem to enjoy cultivating a nervous feeling throughout the office - it seems to make them feel powerful. No one gives any direction when you're new because they're instructed not to, and you're left to figure out how this chaotic company works on your own - an every man for himself atmosphere. I can't say it enough - everyone who works there is on edge constantly, and I personally witnessed several outbursts by The Family that made people cry. This doesn't bother them because there's no empathy, and then they excuse themselves by saying that person is a bad employee instead of realizing they are bad leaders (as anyone who has worked for any other brand would agree). After just the first week, all the enthusiasm and excitement I started with had been sucked out of me. Unfortunately I stayed for a year after, but I wish I had left earlier and taken a job at one of the many other brands based in NYC. I hope this helps save anyone who is thinking about taking this job over another - it's not worth the free denim if you have to work with people who you learn nothing from and make you feel less than.
