A balance of good company reputation & high-profile projects, and poor working environment Senior management control staff and guide projects through condescension that is demeaning and embarrassing, delivered through a biting tone of voice and email. I have seen experienced and friendly, grown men and women be treated like children in front of others, and on email. Senior management can, with only a few words or a couple lines in an email, strip an entire person?s confidence and make one feel incompetent and insignificant, all while delivered with a disarming smile. Management's true mission is cost efficiency and managing profit. Any risk to that, or any slight demonstration that you value design over meeting the financial commitments of the project, and you risk the reprimand. If you were to study the top-down effect of a particular management style, this workplace would be the perfect example. As a result, senior staff condescend to their mid-level and junior staff. Junior staff condescend to each other. Junior administrative staff and secretaries condescend to everyone. Each person is shifting one negative response to the other. Every interaction has a negative veneer. The behavior is rife, though subtle, it?s barely noticeable at times, until it gathers over time and begins to have an effect on your ability to trust, collaborate, or even believe in your own abilities. Jeffrey Beers International, in no way, shape or form, is a positive working environment. This also makes for a very anti-social working environment. People literally do not speak to each other. There are a few hushed hellos in the morning and a little bit of small talk in the kitchen, but other than that the office is very quiet. The annual holiday parties are forced and uncomfortable. Any friendships made with colleagues are kept quiet and secret groups are formed. People sneak out to lunch with each other for fear of being noticed. There is no camaraderie or compassion for your fellow worker. Additionally, this office is not a place for innovation in design. It is merely a vehicle to deliver one particular style across each project. I strongly advise anyone with a passion for design and creativity to pass on any opportunity to work here. You will be forced into a very specific and dated style, and if you do not comply, you?ll be gently pushed aside. Finally, the level of incompetence of the HR and administrative staff is baffling.
