I wish that I hadn?t worked here The turnover rate is extremely high and the gallery goes through more than one person a month in the same position. Due to this, there is a lack of organization. They will only consider, interview, or hire women for the administrative positions. Ironically, the artists that they represent are mostly white men. You will spend your time under constant supervision. The owners have a fundamental lack of trust of their employees. All correspondence, even small things, must be approved before being sent out. It is extremely difficult to prioritize and you will be asked to do multiple things simultaneously. Things that seem small to you aren?t. You will need to remind the owners of non-work related appointments. Most of your work will have more to do with Psychedelic Robot than Bivins Gallery. The way the owners treat people who aren?t clients is unfair and oftentimes unkind. The feedback that you will receive is generally not constructive and oftentimes harsh. They will make you cry. Many people in Dallas are aware of this and I would keep this in mind before associating yourself with this gallery. The schedule is inflexible and you will be expected to work on Saturdays. There are very few procedures for the treatment of employees and I was discouraged from using company benefits.
