Entry-level role I wasn't equipped to learn anything to further my career in non-profit development, other than being able to add "grant writing" to my resume. I found leadership during my very short tenure to be condescending, unsupportive, and not at all conducive to my growth as a professional. The role was more of an executive assistant than a development manager, which was my official title. One example: I was asked to hang coats and provide water for stakeholders/administrators visiting for meetings. Ultimately, I was let go after returning from time off from a family tragedy. Reason given: I wasn't "keeping up pace".
