Bait and Switch / Moving Goalposts You get hired to do Job A and soon, after someone leaves or is fired (I will tell more about why that happens later), you get asked to do Job B as well. You are then judged by how well you do Job A and nothing about Job B is considered or taken into account. Then after getting used to how to do Job A & B they decide to change the roles and goals of both Job A & B. So now you are supposedly NOT doing either job. That will happen to you or one of your co-workers. Eventually, they tell that person that they have to let them go, so when that happens they ask (tell) you that now you have to take over doing Job C and occasionally help out on Job A & B when they need you. Now you are stuck doing something you had no intention of doing, while they look to find someone to do Job A or B because you can?t do those anymore. During each of these steps, they will have management meetings and change the actual goals of the role, so you never know what the real goal you have to hit or if it?s just going to change in a week. Also, since people are leaving or fired, you will be asked to take on more and more of the operational duties of staff further down the process and simply watch as it hinders your ability to do your job and hit your goals.
