Bloated, top-heavy incompetence at Executive level Restructured organization added two more levels of directors and disenfranchised senior managers which created a communications vacuum in an already highly compartmentalized organization. Executive team now has no knowledge of the work getting done in the trenches or who is doing it. The Senior Managers who do seem to know what is going on have no input in merit increases for staff and those are clearly political and structured by some secret formula. These executives could never get a job in a real company. Their incompetence would sink them in a week. Directors all go off in their own direction as suits them and their fiefdom with no apparent oversight from the Executive Team or the Board of Directors. Technology is continually added, upgraded or replaced on some director's whim without regard for cost and integration with other systems. Data is an unholy mess with no solutions, other than hire high priced consultants to give advice that no one will listen to or heed. Most senior managers are so concerned for their own interests that they berate and belittle their staff and the staff in other departments whenever they can get away with it. Only one or two senior managers stand up for their staff to other managers and directors. They coach and mentor their staff, encourage them to grow professionally and treat them as real people with families and concern outside of the office. Sadly, they are short supply. Promotions are extremely rare and are generally just some minor change in title and a few dollars in salary increase. More often than not, the "promotion" is simply a way to get an employee earning overtime into a salaried position with unlimited unpaid overtime. The office is a rat trap of gossip and dysfunction with management completely oblivious.
