Lack of Growth & Dishonest
There's a lack of growth to accomplish anything other than what you're hired for. I worked in environments in Unreal Engine. When I would complete a task on time, or there was down time, I would ask if there was anything I can do to help with previs. Animation, camera shots - anything. Essentially I would be told to do "busy work". I'm not sure if that's the case for everyone, but it's something to be aware of. I definitely felt stifled, giving me no chance for job security or growth in the company. On top of this, when the project I was working on got canceled I was told I would be contacted. Sure a month or two later I was, however, there was never a follow up. Around this time I've noticed a few new employees have been hired with the same title, software knowledge, and skills I have (some with less experience). This raises a red flag as to some dishonesty; being mislead. I don't like to assume things, but it definitely leads me to believe they're quick to replace someone, and not try working things out with a former employee. During my employment I was going through difficult times with my family, and to make things more manageable I tried asking for a schedule alteration. TL;DR I was met with a less than friendly response from one of the higher-ups. As I said before, they're quick to dismiss you, and replace you. All experiences aren't created equally, so I hope this isn't the case for everyone but be aware of this.
