They don't care about employees just making money
Was given a client who was gone for several days before booking service for her cats. Conditions were disgusting- trash through house, feces and urine on floor. I emailed the office as I was told to do and didn't get a response. Client booked again last minute and same conditions. I told the office I didn't want to service the client. By the time you take out takes you are getting $11 a visit tops (which is less than half of what the client is paying) and you have to drive to the client, drive to get and return keys (which you are not compensated for). I took pictures of this sit as suggested and was told there is nothing they can do about it so I let them know, I didn't want to work with this client. 5 days later, the same client booked again last minute while I already working. I responded within an hour stating that I couldn't do it. I received childish and passive aggressive emails from the owner. I agree with previous posts and should have read them before I put in the time. They expect you to act like an employee when you are paid poorly as a contractor. I think it comes down to they don't care about their employees or their services, they live out of state and want to make money. They don't get paid unless you do the job. They aren't local, they say they are going to do things like get employees together at Starbucks, holiday bonuses but cancel that and send out emails about employees not showing up and marking their cat sits complete and not staying the entire time when people have cameras, etc. Meanwhile, I am told I don't have the mentality because I won't do a disgusting neglected cat sit for them!
