Tour Guide You cannot depend on hours and your job can disappear quickly due to downturns - Hourly pay is crap, tips help to get you by, but not everybody tips. - Hours/schedule are a disaster and can be affected by weather - Rain? no tour, so you don't get paid at all. Customer doesn't show up? No tour, so you don't get paid at all. - Someone crashes/falls off a segway while on your tour? You get in trouble. - Owner has anger issues and is a micro-manager. - Lack of budgeting by ownership to pay for things like maintenance on segways, which definitely affect the safety & ride-ability aspects of them - Reputation of business isn't very good locally, especially to the other tour companies that USED to work with this company, due to lack of payment for their services that were previously sold through Another Side Tours. - You're pushed to get customers to leave 5 star TripAdvisor reviews so that you get a small "bonus" if they mention your name. Take the reviews with a grain of salt, while customers have fun, it's an incentivized process leading to exaggerated reviews. - Due to lack of pay, leadership is non-existent.
