WHAT IS A SHORT ESSAY? The short essay - so defined because it is less extensive than a normal essay - is a written text that students must develop using a series of documents. Starting from these, from the information and indications they will find here, they are asked to "support a thesis", that is, to express an opinion on an issue, defend an idea by arguing it logically and coherently, giving information and at the same time motivating the position they take.

The first step to do well a short essay is to read carefully all the material contained in the track given by the professor. It can be newspaper articles, excerpts from works of different kinds, numerical data, graphs, tables, photos, etc.. The goal is to have a clear idea of what the various sources that you will be citing in your paper support.
Identify the order in which they should be presented and the purpose for which they should be used. Each time you cite a source to support your thesis, you should explain why you chose it and the reasoning behind it.
We recommend that you highlight key words, underline important passages, compare the available texts, and make notes in the margin if you need to. And remember, you don't have to cite every document the outline makes available to you. - Style and length

Prefer an impersonal form (e.g. "It is thought that...", "It is widely held that..."). If you know them, you can also include technical terms that are related to the topic at hand.
Do not dwell more than necessary on the explanation and statement of the topic just to lengthen the broth. Digressions are not helpful to your work which, in the end, should not exceed 4-5 columns of protocol sheet. Rather, give ample space to your thesis, enriching it with references and citations that can support it, making sure that it emerges clearly.
