Leanne took a unit that was functioning well, making a significant impact on the achievement of students, and turned it into a unit that has little presence beyond a website and little impact. Her approach to management is chaotic. She has scant tolerance for discussions of detail and takes request for more detail or clarification as obstinacy or criticism. During the pandemic, she disappeared for whole months, cancelling meetings with her staff, who were waiting for her guidance on the 'new direction' she was implementing. In fact, the new direction was nothing new, but she would not hear any feedback about its previous iterations from experienced staff. When a group of staff went to her superior to complain about her incompetence, a number of them found themselves victims of a 'restructuring' within weeks that left some of the best staff unemployed in the midst of the pandemic, and preserved the jobs of the most sycophantic.
