Tanner Iskra spent his childhood in the city of Aberdeen, which is located in Grays Harbor County in the state of Washington. It was in this same county at Grays Harbor that he received his high school education.
The war veteran and cinematographer earned their degree in journalism and mass communication from Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The renowned journalist Walter Cronkite was honored by naming this educational institution. Iskra received his bachelor's degree from the Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.
Additionally, he has an education from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. [Citation needed] Completing the requirements for his certification in military motion media took place at the department of communications and journalism at Syracuse University. The school is better known by its former name, Newhouse School, and is recognized for its broadcast journalism programs.
Iskra has received further certification from the Defense Information School in video production and documentation, visual information management, and intermediate videography. The Department of Defense has an internal need for broadcasters and journalists who have received professional training, and the Defense Information School meets that requirement.
