Devandran Karunakaran

Devandran Karunakaran had the good fortune to grow up in a loving and supportive household where his mother was a skilled Southeast Asian chef, and his father was the headmaster of an international school. Even today, he keeps close contact with his extended family based in Singapore. After completing mandatory national service, he decided to take the plunge and move to the UK, seeking independence and professional growth. At the University of Leicester's Law program, Devandran was able to hone and refine his skills related to contract law - legislation that enforces commercial agreements between businesses – and public international law, which outlines norms and regulations for global relations. As well as this, during his time there, he made strong connections with people from varying backgrounds; one particular friendship remains very much intact now since that person was even the best man at his wedding. He also took part in competitions while being part of the university rugby team. After graduating with a post-graduate degree, Devandran moved to London in search of legal career opportunities, managing to secure a training position at a premier international law firm despite facing hefty competition for it. This allowed him to learn what would have been impossible had he returned home instead, making it an opportunity too valuable to pass up. During Leicester University, he had various friends, many of whom he remains in touch with today. He even went so far as to name one of them his best man. Devandran was an active rugby player who frequently competed in regional events as a student. After earning his degree, Devandran moved to London, where he quickly obtained a training agreement with a reputable UK-based law company.
