Peter Rigo

As one of the lead pastors at One Community Church, Peter Rigo delivers regular sermons and runs special events. He is deeply involved in the day-to-day functioning of the church.

The church has continued to expand as wave after wave of believers find the organization, searching for salvation and and a close-knit community. Peter Rigo is impressed and inspired every day by the number of individuals in the Hamilton area who long to be Baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. Many current members found the church through its signature ministry podcast program on Vimeo. These podcasts emphasize the importance of love, family, faith, forgiveness, prayer, hope, and generosity.

These days, the church’s staff consists largely of those first devoted believers, including Peter Rigo's daughters Rachel and Ashley, and their loving husbands Matthew and Jesse, respectively.

Born in Toronto, Peter Rigo was raised in Hagersville, Oakville and Hamilton, Ontario by a Christian adoptive family. Peter had a warm and loving childhood, full of baseball and hockey and Sunday school–he even started his own lawn care business as a child.

In junior high school, Peter Rigo took up the drums, and used his talents playing in youth ministry and church services. It was during this time that Rigo discovered his true calling–bringing people together and helping them through the power of Christianity.

In high school, Peter spent much of his time in a creative capacity, making t-shirts, sound engineering, and designing/building sets for the theatre department’s productions. He also worked for Hamilton City’s Youth For Christ as a volunteer, finding Christian artists for various concerts and other events.

After graduating high school, Peter Rigo made his way to the US to attend Zion Bible Institute in Rhode Island. While there, his biggest passions were graphic arts and youth/traveling music ministry. During this time, he was given the opportunity to visit several houses of worship across the continent.

It was at Zion that Peter Rigo met his future wife Peggy. They married and continued to live in Providence for eight years, serving on a number of ministries and giving back to the community as much as posible. They also had two wonderful daughters, and the whole family attended church regularly.

In 1999, the Rigo’s were impressed to return to Canada, Pastor Peter’s home country, and start a church. After much prayer and many confirmations, they arrived in Canada in August of 2000.

Peter Rigo's family-built church has created a rich sense of community, and a place that people of all walks of life can call home. The journey so far has been amazing filled with miracles, breakthroughs, new friendships, transformed lives and futures discovered. Peter Rigo truly believes the best has yet to come.
