He attended the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel, where he graduated with his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
He then spent two months of advance training at Texas Tech University in Lubbock Texas with Dr. Gabor Racz.
Pursuing his interest in pain management, he went on to complete five years of residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital as well as University Hospital at Stony Brook. Working under the guidance of other professionals in the field, he was able to gain extensive knowledge and experience. Treating a diverse range of patients and conditions, he was able to further develop and refine his skills.
He has also completed several fellowships throughout his career regarding pain control and anesthesia. This has given him broader, more comprehensive knowledge when it comes to pain management treatments and techniques. One area that he has focused on is pediatric cardiac anesthesia. Dr. Harvey Finkelstein earned his board certification in both anesthesiology and pain medicine.
