Sean Southland is a medical innovator, doctor, business owner, and innovative force in technology.
Sean Southland— a doctor, entrepreneur, racer, and tech guru— has made major strides in the neuroscience industry. He has experience in several different fields and is constantly looking for ways to improve the lives of children with autism, athletes, and anyone else who needs his help.

Early in his career, Sean Southland became involved with professional racing, motocross, and pro race karts. This passion led him to many of the innovations he has made, such as the TrinityTEK Racing simulators and the DriverX Elite Academy. He is the current team manager of TrinityTEK’s Racing Developing. He combines his driving experience, business acumen, and other talents to organize events and drive the company forward.

One of his primary focuses in his career is to optimize athletic performance. Most athletes, according to Southland, look for non-invasive, drug-free ways to become stronger and sharper performers. With AST, or the Advanced Simulation Therapy Matrix, Southland (who also founded Performance Research Sciences AST, LLC) has developed a way to give athletes a comprehensive evaluation of their physical and mental well-being. The matrix is one of the most innovative steps in modern athletics, a system that is already valuable in performance and training evaluation.

The AST Matrix is also used for assessing sports-related injuries and helping athletes develop treatment plans. The protocol on the matrix, when used correctly, is able to reduce liability, improve the quality of care, and shorten the overall recovery time for injuries. The evaluation, training, and rehabilitation process is combined into AST Matrix. The Matrix is also known to help mitigate symptoms of neurological disorders.
Sean Southland has been involved in research, professional health care, and athletic performance for more than 25 years. He is recognized as one of the top professionals in the industry largely due to his diverse skill sets and dedication to his field.

His first degree was in electrical engineering. Sean graduated from Saddleback College with honors and then became a certified sports performance nutritionist, master fitness trainer, and life coach. He completed pre-law and pre-med programs at ASU where Southland earned a BS in administration. He went on to earn a master’s degree and PhD in biosciences and then a master’s degree and doctorate in business administration.

Since college, Southland joined the American College of Sports medicine and earned several certifications, including those in health care and emergency response services. He also did several medical externships and worked in a clinical setting for quite some time. Career wise, Sean served in the armed forces, and also worked in law enforcement, accounting, fire safety, the entertainment industry, entrepreneurship, intellectual property, athletics, bioenergetics, and even owned his own small business.

Outside of his career, Sean Southland earned industry-related certifications and got his pilot’s license. He has also raced production cars, motocross, and karts, a hobby that led him to a nonprofit, which will be discussed later on. He also has an open competition pro-license with the ASA, SCCA, and NASA. Throughout his career, no matter how diverse it may seem, he has always focused on children with special needs, particularly autism.

One of his most notable feats was creating TrinityTEK Racing Development, a company that develops driving simulators that are used at an academy in Arizona. His perseverance for business and advancing the health care industry paid off with this company, and he continues to make strides to this day. Put simply, the TrinityTEK simulator stimulates brain function and engages the body at the same time. This is a mesh of technology and neuroscience.

A key function of the simulator is what it can do for athletes. According to Southland, the AST Matrix and TrinityTEK equipment is able to analyze a person’s neural function. This will help researchers and health care professionals find treatments for sports-related injuries and prompt a swift recovery.

Sean Southland also became involved in International DriverX Elite Academy, a not-for-profit academy. The academy is based in Las Sendas Mountains near Mesa, Arizona, and offers personal development and growth programs for children with special needs. The TrinityTEK Advanced Simulation, for instance, is part of the academy’s driver development program that uses motorsports to improve communication, neuromuscular function, leadership, self-esteem, and other important skills for children.

The DriverX Academy currently offers overnight retreats as well as 90-minute sessions. The resort-style living center provides meals (prepared by a nutritionist) and everything else kids need to have an educational yet fun stay at the academy. The guests take part in various development programs such as social events, movies, simulated racing, swimming, and other sessions.

Sean is the academy’s administrator. According to him, the special needs academy was created out of sheer demand from parents. Autistic children are hard-pressed to find development programs of this caliber that help develop both behavioral and social skills. In essence, the academy offers advanced simulation sessions for all people, whether they are children with autism or are retirees. The International DriverX Elite Academy uses only state-of-the-art equipment and has the personnel, experience, and administrators to make a lasting impact on its guests.

Sean Southland’s work at the academy is evidence of his dedication to doing whatever he can for his community, which in this case is the entire world. He believes that everyone should do their part, whether it is donating effort, time, or capital for the benefit of others. Active philanthropists are typically healthier people with higher levels of self-esteem, confidence, and a greater well-being. The academy is just one of the many ways Sean gives back to the community.
Among other things, Sean Southland hopes that one day, the entire medical community will accept the AST Matrix. The AST Matrix is what he works on through Performance Research Sciences. His projected idea is to get the body and brain unified through technology and neuroscience, two subjects he has studied extensively. He wants to focus on these projects to help children with autism, though it has applications to just about anyone (not just those who can afford it).

As mentioned before, the Matrix is applicable to a wide variety of people. He hopes to implement the technology into sports, special needs programs, and other areas for maximum impact. Southland looks forward to creating similar systems in the future and growing his professional racing team.

As evident by his history, Southland is always pushing himself to become a better, stronger, and smarter person. He is not just a doctor, businessman, or athletic expert — he is all of these things. Sean constantly pursues new degrees and areas of inspiration that could help him create the next big thing yet again. What is next for Sean? Time will tell, though he will likely innovate a technology so powerful that it forces the medical and technology industries to take notice.

Sean is dedicated to his projects and drives them forward every day, hardly ever stepping back or letting something fail. His persistence is by far the most evident trait. One day, Sean Southland hopes to change the world through medical industry breakthroughs.
