Gregory James Aziz is the Chairman, President & CEO of National Steel Car, one of the world’s leading railroad freight car engineering and manufacturing companies, located in Hamilton, Ontario.

Born in London, Ontario on April 30, 1949, Greg was educated at Ridley College and then majored in economics at the University of Western Ontario.

Joining his family wholesale food business, Affiliated Foods, in 1971, the company grew over 16 years to become a worldwide importer of fresh foods from Europe, Central, and South America, with distribution to all of the major fresh food wholesale markets across the United States and in Eastern Canada. After working on several investment banking opportunities in New York in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Greg was able to organize the purchase of National Steel Car from Dofasco in 1994, with the goal of transforming this once great Canadian company into North America’s leading railroad freight car manufacturer. Emphasizing National Steel Car’s strong engineering capabilities, team-building, and through considerable human and capital investment, the company expanded its manufacturing capability from 3,500 cars per year at the time of purchase to 12,000 cars by 1999.
