Is it bigger than a breadbox? CAI International can pack it. Formerly Container Applications International, the company leases large steel boxes to ship freight by plane, train, or truck around the world. More than 40% of its container fleet is owned by CAI and the balance, owned by container investors, is managed by CAI. The leasing segment offers 280-plus shipping companies short-term, less than one year, and long-term five-year leases. Finance leases give lessees the option to purchase the container. Management services provide container investors with the ability to lease, re-lease, and dispose of their portfolio of containers. Management services also contract for container repair, relocation, and storage.
