In the march toward automation, Dearborn Mid-West Conveyor (DMW) steps to a faster beat. The company designs, manufactures, and installs a range of material handling systems. Its lineup divides between bulk materials handling, auto, parcel post, and industrial manufacturing systems. The short list includes conveyors, belts and feeders, chutes, and systems for assembly, storage, sorting, and transfer. DMW sells largely to OEMs such as Ford and Chrysler, and the U.S. Postal Service. It makes materials handling equipment as well for agricultural and mining operations, rail and shipping facilities, and power plants. DMW is owned by private equity firms Knox Lawrence International and Falcon Investment Advisors.
