Mundo Verde

Mundo Verde Bilingual Public Charter School is a Tier 1 school and local education agency dedicated to both education for sustainability and Spanish-English biliteracy. Our founding campus at 30 P Street NW serves one of the most diverse group of PreK-fifth grade students in the District. In August 2019, we plan to open our second campus with 270 students in early childhood and lower elementary grades, and will grow the campus over time to serve PreK-fifth grades by SY2023-2024. Mundo Verde uses Expeditionary Learning, a model that promotes self-?discovery, inquiry, critical thinking, encourages teamwork, builds character, and capitalizes on children?s innate spirit of adventure through hands-?on, project-?based learning. Our social curriculum utilizes the Responsive Classroom approach, based on the premise that children learn best when adults nurture academic as well as social-emotional skills. The school champions the inclusion of students with disabilities in the general education classroom. The school is a U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School, an Ashoka Changemaker School, and a Flamboyan Foundation Family Engagement Partner School.
