TearLab (formerly OccuLogix) can read your tears. The diagnostics company has developed and commercialized the TearLab Osmolarity System, a tear collection and analysis system for use at the point of care. The system detects biomarkers that indicate ophthalmic conditions; its first testing product aids in the diagnosis of dry eye disease (DED). After several failed attempts to develop medical therapies for ophthalmic ailments including glaucoma and macular degeneration, the company became focused on diagnostic testing; it changed its name to TearLab in 2010.
