Tennessee's largest two-year college just happens to be in the Southwest corner. Southwest Tennessee Community College serves the Memphis area with two main campuses and six satellite sites and centers. The school offers associate degree programs in more than 100 liberal arts and sciences areas and more than 20 technical certification programs. It also offers vocational and continuing education programs taught by about 260 faculty members to some 12,000 students. Shelby State Community College and State Technical Institute at Memphis consolidated in 2000 to create Southwest.
