Having created its name from mixing Latin and Greek to form a word meaning "tailor made part," Sartomer Company prides itself on giving customers what they want. And, apparently, they want resins: hydrocarbon resins, Hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene resins, and any other resin under the sun. Sartomer joins Cook Composites and Polymers and Cray Valley to form the resins business of TOTAL's chemicals division. It has plants in Pennsylvania and Virginia, as well as Europe and Asia. The company's resins are used in adhesives, coatings, composites, and inks. In 2010 French chemicals company Arkema acquired Sartomer and other parts of TOTAL's specialty chemicals business in a $730 million deal.
