These Giants cast a big shadow over the ball diamond. San Francisco Baseball Associates owns and operates Major League Baseball franchise the San Francisco Giants. Formed by John Day and Jim Mutrie as the New York Gothams in 1883 (the Giants moniker was applied two years later), the team has won 21 National League pennants and seven World Series titles, the last in 2012. Horace Stoneham moved the team to the Bay Area in 1958. San Francisco's roster has included such Hall of Fame players as Willie Mays, Mel Ott, and Gaylord Perry. The team plays host at AT&T Park near downtown San Francisco.
