PETROLEO BRASILEIRO (PETROBRAS) isn't brash, but it is Brazil's top company and has assets in 30 countries. The integrated energy company explores for oil and gas and produces, refines, and transports oil and gas products. With extensive assets in offshore Brazil, in 2011 PETROBRAS reported proved reserves of 12.9 billion barrels of oil equivalent. In Brazil it also operates 12 refineries, an extensive oil and gas pipeline network, and more than 7,300 gas stations. Petrobras Distribuidora is Brazil's #1 retailer of oil products and fuel alcohol. Petrobras Argentina is a top Argentine oil firm. Other units operate electricity (10 power plants), petrochemicals, and natural gas assets.
