At EDMO®, science and songs go together. Art complements design. Coding builds friendships. Getting messy and making mistakes are celebrated. That’s why our programs, whether in-person or online, are hands-on, interactive and fun. Founded in 2004, EDMO is a national education nonprofit that cultivates curious, courageous, and kind humans. Our award-winning camps, classes, and tutoring programs engage kids' minds, bodies and hearts. All kids and families are welcome at EDMO. Equity is in our mission. Mission: The mission of EDMO is to make equitable, high-quality Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math (STEAM) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs accessible to all communities in order to cultivate curious, courageous and kind humans everywhere. Our mission is rooted in our belief that ALL children should have access to our programs to prepare them to be the innovators, educators, researchers and leaders of tomorrow, regardless of their families ability to pay. At EDMO, we are actively working to dismantle the financial barriers that prevent systemically oppressed communities from accessing our programs in a variety of ways. Central to achieving our mission is our emphasis on kids learning and practicing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills. Skills like critical thinking, problem solving and empathy that help us navigate friendships, overcome challenges and build resiliency at all ages. As an organization, we model the lessons we teach. We collaborate with leaders in the fields of Science, Maker Education and Social Emotional Learning in the design of our curriculum. We practice empathy and problem solving by working with school districts to design programs that meet the needs of their unique communities. We take responsibility for our personal and professional development as humans so that we can lead with authenticity and compassion. At EDMO we celebrate getting messy and making mistakes.
