Grove/Atlantic is a small literary fiction publishing house made up of three divisions: Grove Press, Atlantic Monthly Press, and Canongate US. Additionally, the company distributes Open City Books and Magazine. Grove/Atlantic can trace its roots back to 1917 with the founding of Atlantic Monthly Press as an imprint of Little, Brown. Atlantic Monthly published such classics as Mutiny on the Bounty and Goodbye Mr. Chips, and became independent in 1985. The company merged with Grove Press, publisher of D. H. Lawrence's Lady Chatterley's Lover, Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer, and William Burroughs's Naked Lunch, to form Grove/Atlantic in 1993.
