This telecom carrier wants to extend southern hospitality to the wholesale market. Southern Telecom operates long-haul and metro fiber-optic networks that connect Atlanta with smaller metro regions throughout the Southeast. Its 1,200 route-mile network spans Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. The company primarily provides network access and capacity to telecom carriers and ISPs, as well to corporate clients in other industries for their private networks. Southern offers such network elements as dark fiber, conduit, and rights-of-way. It additionally provides managed services including collocation, data storage, and recovery. Founded in 1997 the company is a subsidiary of Atlanta-based energy giant Southern Company.
