Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) is a research school with an enrollment of about 10,000 students (more than half of whom are graduate and professional students). CWRU offers undergraduate and graduate degrees from eight schools -- business, engineering, law, arts and sciences, dentistry, social work, nursing, and medicine -- at its campus in Cleveland. The student-teacher ratio is 10:1. The university's origins date back to 1826 in the Ohio region then known as the Western Reserve of Connecticut; its current structure was formed in 1967 with the combination of neighboring Case Institute of Technology and Western Reserve University.
