On a flight to Phoenix, our now CTO Joe Messner looked down from his window and saw thousands of rooftops without solar. “How strange,” he thought, “for a city that averages more than 300 sunny days every year.” Inspired, Joe contacted his friend and colleague Russ Patzer, and together they scratched out a business plan on the back of a napkin to harness Arizona’s most abundant natural resource, and change how people power their lives. This was the beginning of Sun Valley Solar Solutions, and exactly the type of challenge that two former Intel engineers like Joe and Russ just love. Russ took the lead on all business operations as CEO, while Joe focused his efforts on the technology side. Started in 2006 we have now grown and are ranked 3rd in Arizona for total installed kW volume and 15th in the US. That's a lot of rooftops to see solar on now, but we aren't done yet. Mission: Today Sun Valley Solar Solutions’ mission can be traced back to that singular airplane moment that ignited Russ and Joe’s imaginations.
