Emptoris makes Web-based supply chain management software that manages supplier information and analyzes company spending. Its software can be used to create questionnaires for vendors, evaluate vendors, and manage requests for quotes and contracts, including multiple contracts with a single vendor. The company also offers modules that manage online auctions, analyze spending trends, and facilitate negotiations. Its software is used in the financial services, retail, and health care, and other industries. While the company markets its software worldwide, about two-thirds of sales come from the US. Customers include American Express, Kraft, and Vodafone. In 2012 it was acquired by IBM.
