Technical lighting, lamps and light bulbs for microscopy in hospitals and labs, is the largest source of mercury in those facilities. Lumencor manufactures lighting for clinical and research instruments for the needs of pathology, immunology, cytometry, genomics and surgery. Our products are “light engines”, complete optical excitation subsystems, routinely used on all the major microscope brands. They provide bright, clean, cool light in the visible, nIR and UV and they are particularly well suited for fluorescence analyses. Lumencor’s light engines are long-lived and offer superior stability while being energy efficient, cool, compact, requiring no maintenance or replacement parts; moreover, they are completely mercury-free. Products range from simple, white light sources as lamp replacements, to a family of independently controlled light sources for fluorophors in a multicolored sample, to simple synchronized Red/Green/Blue light providing color images via black and white cameras.
