Anthony Duignan-Cabrera builds award-winning digital news products and the content, video, social media strategies, editorial teams, and advertising solutions needed for success.
I'm a digital media executive and consultant with more than 25 years experience in journalism—print, TV and digital—who runs my own business.
Prior to opening his consultancy, ADC was the founding Editor in Chief of The Open Standard, published by Mozilla. The Open Standard was an original news site dedicated to covering the ideas and opinions that support the open, transparent and collaborative systems at work in our daily lives.

Previously, ADC was Vice President, Editorial Director of Patch, AOL's network of nearly 1,000 hyperlocal news sites. ADC joined Patch in 2010 as the Editorial Director for the East, and oversaw the hiring and management of more than 350 digitally savvy reporters and editors. ADC worked with senior management and ad sales team to redefine Patch’s business model with an eye on keeping costs down and fostering revenue opportunities. He was promoted in 2013 to manage Patch’s entire news team, more than 950 journalists in 22 States and the District of Columbia.

Prior to joining Patch, ADC was Editorial Director for CNN’s local lifestyle news service CNNGo. Based in Hong Kong, CNNGo served six cities in Asia — Singapore, Bangkok, Shanghai, Tokyo, Mumbai and Hong Kong — covering the emerging luxury and traveler lifestyle markets, reviewing and profiling restaurants, spas, hotels, as well as the entrepreneurs, entertainers and characters that defined the culture of the cities. He also managed the launch of three local language CNNGo sites (Japanese, Mandarin and Cantonese). CNNGo later merged with CNN Travel.

In 2009, ADC was a member of the pre-funded launch team of TalkSix, an online video and content aggregation solution for publishers and advertisers where he contributed to the initial funding financial model, strategic partnerships, content distribution and presentations to the VC community.

ADC’s experience in digital news began in 1999 when he joined the staff of Lou Dobbs’ Internet news startup, the award-winning SPACE.com, as an online producer. He rose quickly to become the site’s Managing Editor, working with the product and ad sales team to create a robust user and advertiser experience. The company later expanded to become the Imaginova Corporation (now Purch), with ADC as VP, Editorial Director, also overseeing the launches of the award-winning science news site LiveScience, as well as Aviation.com. He helped identify and negotiate the acquisition of the comic book entertainment site, Newsarama by Imaginova. He left Imaginova at the end of 2008.

Prior to moving into digital, ADC was a print reporter and a TV news segment producer. He was a freelance correspondent for Newsweek magazine’s San Francisco Bureau, and then a staff writer with the Miami Herald and a correspondent with People magazine’s New York bureau. He also worked in broadcast journalism as a segment producer for Good Morning America in 1998.

ADC has a B.A. in Journalism from San Francisco State University where he was the Opinion Editor and Editor in Chief of the Golden Gater newspaper. As a teen, he was educated in Dublin, Ireland and holds both U.S. and EU passports.
ADC is looking for new clients and opportunities as varied and engaging as his career experience—news, entertainment, advertising, B-to-C, B-to-B. He wants a challenge that's rewarding and fun.
