Awful and Shady.
Don't let the website fool you. You might see diversity but there is no equity and inclusion in their ranks or programming. The c-suite is incompetent as evidenced by the recurring layoffs and inconsistent financial outlook. There are several roles held by those with direct connections to board members or the few who are in the company ?cool crowd? (the complicit yes-men and women). The favoritism is overt along with the poor treatment of BIPOC staff. The glory days at the place have been gone for years and no amount of restructuring can fix top-down toxicity. There are C-suite staff who regularly belittle those who do not fall in line or who just aren?t in the ?cool crowd.? Either by calling them "stupid" or ignoring them completely. The benefits are terrible and leadership claims to offset that by providing a flexible workplace. In reality staff are gaslit into thinking the workplace is flexible, but when flexibility is requested (things like working from home or taking a half day) staff are subject to increased scrutiny and micromanagement. Do not expect honesty. They regularly hold meetings where staff are told the organization is in good shape and are promised work and transparency only to be met with layoffs a few weeks later. New staff are regularly met with layoffs months after hiring. The schools and communities they work with are left in the lurch due to inconsistent staff and programming. They fire educators and program staff but keep staff that don?t directly service or understand the communities they claim to care about. At this point they?re just chasing money.
