If you like working for free and getting yelled at, Render is the place for you. Wage theft: prepare to be taken advantage of if you aren't a salaried full-time employee. Perhaps using a legal loophole, Render hired many "freelancers" and "contractors" to work 5+ hours on set shifts every single day. Between January-March, all such workers (mostly writers but also others in lower managerial positions) were let go or forced to quit, and to date Render has not paid them. Most are owed 1-2 full months of pay and management has indicated that they have no intention of making good on that. This company imploded at an alarming rate due to an incompetent response to recent social media changes. I would not trust any future companies with the Elbaz name on it if you like stability and dislike wage theft. Render never valued quality, only quantity and clicks. The priority was always "make money fast" rather than creating longer lasting good content. It's hard to have longevity as a company if you produce mediocre clickbait with no personal attachment to the content, but that's just my personal opinion. "Freelancers" had nearly no personal interaction with the company and were discouraged from visiting the office. Individual assignment editors were wonderful, though we only interacted with them via email. Despite attempts from some, it's tough to create company culture when you are kept at arm's length. Can confirm that many of the positive reviews on this site were written by employees upon specific request from management. I personally observed CEO Eytan Elbaz throw temper tantrums. He yells at people on the phone and would occasionally scream at employees and associates in his office. I don't like or dislike the guy personally but I do find this very off putting and unprofessional. Many employees here would work late almost daily and not receive overtime pay. Contractors were told upon hire and various other times that they might be moved up to full-time employees if they keep up the good work. This never happened for me over the course of several years, though I did get additional managerial responsibilities with no pay raise or promotion. I do not know whether or not this was a regular occurrence, but personally I think they took advantage of me and likely many others.
