Meaningless work, terrible management At least 8 employees have been fired (out of a full-time staff of 16-20) for expressing concerns about how the organization operates or providing feedback in a professional manner. The work is described by upper management as 'tedious and boring,' you will gain very little in the way of career development and you will constantly frustrated by decisions solely made by the President, Richard Kimball, who takes home $70,000 a year but spends only a couple weeks in the office and is infamous for malicious firings and being an absolute tyrant in his interactions with employees. They say you have a salary, but the actual structure is that you receive an hourly wage up to 40hrs and then receive no compensation for additional hours you may need to work during elections. Worked missed because of dangerous weather conditions or sickness loose pay. This is hard because your commute includes 13 miles of bumpy dirt road each way which results in repairs and flat tires on a regular basis. And the cost of living may be lower than a large city, but expect to pay at least $300/month before utilities. Your ideas will rarely lead to change and, if you speak truthfully, you will likely be fired as I and several others have been in the past years. Other things include: total internet in office is 10mb (yes, your Wi-Fi is far more than that), effectiveness of organization is never a real priority, ridiculous focuses such as favoring print media over Facebook, and the knowledge that what you are doing doesn't actual matter. Sure, if you're an intern, go for it. It is a good area and it is easy enough to keep your head down for 12 weeks. You'd be an idiot to take this as a job. Oh, and you are in the middle of nowhere making it very difficult to save up the money to leave. Final, all of the famous board members - your probably read Jimmy Carter - haven't been apart of the board in decades.
