Plenty of Potential, Talented Employees, but Moral-Crushing Management
Poor management results in an unusually high turnover rate. The company recently moved into a new office space that mimics the progressive start-up incentives such as games to placate jaded employees and impress new-hires. Employees have been in desperate need for new desks, equipment, and resources over the past 6 years. We are working on hand-me-down Ikea desks, barely-operational computers found years ago on Craigslist, and resources that doesn't allow for efficient work management demands. It felt insulting that the CEO dealt out nearly $1,000,000 for the new office, games, wall murals, and Keurig while we were left to deal with our dysfunctional equipment. If anything breaks, just rummage through the tangled old tech cardboard box. Pay is akin to working retail or the service industry while we are doing skilled labor that requires previous experience and education. Most new-hires are young and inexperienced while being offered little to no on-boarding or training. The constant turnover, drama, impending doom, demand, management, useless meetings, angry clients, and being dismissed have visibly destroyed company moral. The full-time insurance benefit is simply $100 added to your monthly income. I was forced on government insurance because of my chronic illness. CEO is quick to point fingers, become aggressive, refuse feedback, and chooses saving money over giving quality products to their clients. Also, I've witnessed shady and questionable business practices which I hope has since been addressed. We were explicitly offered a cash incentive to write fake Google reviews and told to ask family and friends to write reviews as well. Overall, the company looks like it has a fun culture on the surface when in reality I would describe it as toxic comparatively.
