When it comes to prenuptial agreements, postnuptial arrangements, child custody, divorce or any other division of family law, Friedman and her team are the legal specialists that local residents rely on.

Friedman recognizes that a divorce can interrupt the functioning of a family on multiple levels. This disruption makes a skilled family law attorney essential. Friedman’s team of experts will work to settle any and all discrepancies in family law so that the client is satisfied with the result.

Friedman has been honored by the National Association of Women Business Owners for outstanding achievement in the business community. She runs her practice with her daughter.

Sari Friedman kicked off her career in law by attending Hofstra University and earning her B.A. in 1977. Hofstra was originally established as an offshoot of New York University that was located on Long Island. Based in Hempstead, Hofstra secured its independent university status in 1963. The designation made Hofstra the first private university on Long Island.

After graduating with her undergraduate degree, Sari Friedman returned to Hofstra University for her law degree. Successfully completing the program in 1980, she was admitted into the New York Bar Association and began working for the Appellate Division Second Department as a clerk.

The Appellate Courts are legal locations in New York that hear appeals from the New York Supreme Court. These courts are empowered to overturn or enforce rulings made in cases that are held in the lower courts.

In New York, Appellate Division courts are broken into four departments that cover the entire state. The first department covers Manhattan. The second department covers the boroughs and counties surrounding Manhattan, including Long Island. The third and fourth departments cover the remainder of Upstate New York.

Sari Friedman worked with the Appellate Division’s second department from 1980 until 1984 when she decided to start her own private practice. She developed a specialty in family and matrimonial law. Since 1984, Friedman has worked privately to help families settle their legal matters in and out of court.

On a personal level, starting a family is one of the most enriching things an individual can do. In the eyes of the state and federal governments, the process usually involves taxes and other legal details. When individuals decide to get married or divorced, there are proceedings that must take place legally for these decisions to be made final.

Divorces are circumstances in which family law attorneys such as Sari Friedman specialize. Every state has a set of laws regarding proceedings and regulations following a divorce. Friedman concentrates in the divorce law practices of New York State. She works to secure settlements that will keep families afloat regardless of the conflicts between spouses.

Divorce proceedings are often tied to the wellbeing of children. There is always the matter of who will obtain custody over these young family members. Sari Friedman aims to settle divorce proceedings with decisions that will be in a child’s best interest. Sometimes that decision involves parents sharing the time they have with their kids. Other times, there may be reasons why a child cannot live with one parent, whether environmental, financial or domestic.

Family lawyers sit down with families and a judge to determine what is best for affected children. When custody of a child is awarded to a single parent, family lawyers discuss child support payments and alimony in order to help the other parent contribute to the continued support of the children.

Sari Friedman didn’t establish her practice just deal with custody matters. She also works to hammer out divorce proceedings between parties. Multiple factors collide in the event of a separation. If there is proof that a substantial amount of property is owned between the divorcing couple, there must be a lawyer present to assist in justly dividing belongings. In many cases, property and money that is shared is split down the middle. Some individuals want to make deals and compromises in order to save some things and give away others. The law varies from state to state, but having an attorney present will make these complex proceedings legally binding.

Family and matrimonial law extends beyond divorce proceedings. Sari Friedman is experienced in the field of pre-marriage arrangements as well. Prenuptial agreements are something most individuals have heard about through celebrity marriages, but these arrangements are not simply the territory of high-profile stars. Prenuptial agreements are designed to protect certain assets that an individual might possess from before a relationship or marriage. Individual who own businesses, substantial amounts of wealth or properties that were acquired before marriage can use a prenuptial agreement to ensure that their belongings remain in possession in the event of a dispute or financial conflict.

Sari Friedman notes that attorneys help to advise engaged couples on what their agreements should include. However, these legal professionals can’t make and sign the document themselves. A legally-binding prenuptial agreement must be in writing, voluntary and reasonable. The agreement can’t have any unjust requests or principles that were drafted behind a partner’s back. Prenuptial agreements are useful in case of a tragic happening that results in the loss of a spouse. The agreement can act as a will of sorts if a will doesn’t already exist within the relationship at that time.

Marriage is a time of great celebration as well as one of the biggest days of an individual’s life. The ceremony and all the proceedings play only a small role when compared to what goes on behind the scenes. In the eyes of the government, there are forms to fill out and licenses to obtain in order to make a marriage official. Should a marriage dissolve, there are even more legal items and proceedings required in order to make the separation official and amicable.

Hiring a family and matrimonial law attorney helps to make these transitions and negotiations smoother. Feelings can get sour at the end of a marriage. An exacerbated emotional state may result in actions that would otherwise never be considered under normal circumstances. Employing legal counsel is a way to mediate any potentially uncomfortable proceedings.

Sari Friedman started her law practice with the intent of making sure that the legalities of marriage and family would be upheld and dealt with as thoroughly as possible. Friedman and her partners have worked to ensure that individuals and families receive maximum stability and advantages from their proceedings. She wants to protect family members and children: this mission is why Friedman became a family law attorney. Family law and divorce can get complex and highly emotional at times. Sari Friedman has committed to helping to keep the peace through legal resolution.

Sari Friedman plans to continue working to make sure her clients are getting the fullest benefits of family and matrimonial law. She and her two partners want to ensure that individuals are able to pursue happiness without legal burdens and confusion. Sari Friedman pays exceptionally close attention to the needs of children. They are often the victims when a divorce escalates tempers and embroils couples in arguments. Though they have nothing to do with their parents choosing to separate, children often become entrenched in the battle over which parent will receive custody. Friedman and her associates will continue to work to preserve best interest of children when it comes to custody and parental visitation. They know to keep kids away from a toxic environment, and will make sure to establish measures to protect these bystanders when they need help.

Friedman will continue to fight diligently for the rights of children and family members. Family and matrimonial law is a complicated but rewarding field to work in. Sari Friedman takes pride in what she is able to accomplish through her practice. She plans to continue achieving in the legal field for many years to come.
